Comfort Wood Cottage is a newly renovated former barn located in the Tamar Valley in Cornwall UK. Adjoining Newton Farm the Cottage enjoys a delightful, rural outlook with its own private garden.

Step outside the cottage and you can enjoy numerous walks through the idyllic, adjoining woods which lead to Cotehele House and gardens owned by the National Trust and open to the public. A gentle walk from the cottage, across fields will lead you to the picturesque village of Metherell where an excellent local pub can be found serving good food.

Newton Farm is an organically managed small holding, reflecting the ethos and animal welfare of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Presently, we care for a flock of Lleyn sheep, three bullocks, horses, geese, chickens, ducks, peacocks, ferrets and three Tamworth pigs.

The cottage is located in the Tamar Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a designated world heritage site. The River Tamar marks the border between Cornwall and Devon. The Tamar Valley provides a wealth of archaeological and historic interest with its fascinating history of mining and trading along the Tamar River. There is a tidal slipway less than a mile away at Cotehele Quay and the tidal reaches of the river Tamar are ideal for bird watching. The pretty and vibrant village of Calstock is less than two miles away and has further hostelries for eating and drinking. A short drive away is the well known St Mellion Golf & Country Club. Sea fishing trips can be taken from the historic City of Plymouth and horse riding on Dartmoor can be easily arranged. Other activities available include canoeing and on and off road cycling, which the owners will be happy to arrange. Tea and homemade cakes or a bottle of wine will be available on arrival.
